My fitness motivation tips!

For those that lack the drive for a fit life it is important to find ways to keep yourself motivated when you are getting into an exercise routine. I have compiled a small list of motivation tips that work for me that I believe help me keep on the right track and are simple things others can use to keep themselves in a routine.

Take before and after photos. Sometimes seeing results in the mirror is difficult because you’re used to your reflection and you are changing slowly on a daily basis. Photos can help translate the results for you.
Get dressed for your workout in the morning. (If you can) I know that if I already have my workout clothes on I find it harder to back out. It’s like a constant reminder that I have that on my to-do list. Sometimes on extra lazy days I’ll even wear my workout shoes all day until I’ve finished.
Along that same track, I do enjoy clothes, so rewarding myself with new cute workout clothes has me wanting to wear them and looking forward to it and a good workout.


Have a reward- make up a goal for yourself and have a fun simple reward once you reach it.

Keep if quick- it’s harder to stay motivated to do something that will take a good chunk of your day, so do some quick HIIT sessions, or focus on toning particular zones for that day.

Change it up- do different types of workouts daily. Doing the same routine gets old. Mixing it up keeps it fun.

Be apart of online workout groups- such as #lucyssquad it keeps you motivated seeing other people workout or post #done and especially seeing their results. I know when my favorite fitness expert posts photos of people who follow her simply workouts results I have a strong need to keep going.

Have rest days- I like to take 2 rest days a week sometimes 3 when I’m feeling a little under the weather. These days are sometimes all the motivation I need. I like to do Monday-Friday so I know my weekends will be restful
To go along with that….

If you can help it try to not take breaks more than 2-3 days between because getting back into it is almost like having to start over for motivation and strength. I was sick for a week and could only manage one workout in 7 days so that was a 6 day “rest” and boy.. that following Monday I was dragging finding each and every excuse to put it off. When I finally did do it my butt was beat with just one 10-minute HIIT workout( they are tough to begin with but oh man..) and a 4 min toning session. That Tuesday i managed to do almost my full routine(HIIT, thighs, butt, arms) but I still felt the difference on how much I could put into it. So yes we all have sick days, mental or physical, but try to remember is worth it to miss?? Am I that sick!? Lol. In all seriousness, take care of yourself first but don’t give in to excuses!

Lastly- understand that it is a process to start a new routine, especially when you haven’t been into fitness before. Sometimes we do it to fit into those jeans, or that bikini body in the summer, and other times we simply want to be fitter for our children to be able to keep up! Whatever the case make sure you take it easy on yourself and let your body grow into your routine with you! I struggle some weeks with my motivation so I try to be sure to keep these in mind to keep me going and fighting through the excuses!
