June 8, 2016.
You know that DayQuil commercial where the moms like “yea I’m not gonna be able to make it in today…” And you just see this sassy baby on camera giving you the metaphorical finger with its cute smile!?
Well that was my week.
Audrey started showing signs of a cold on Friday and I was hoping maybe it was allergies or at least a 24 hour thing.
Here we are. Wednesday morning, and she’s still sick.
Friday wasn’t too bad, but as her daddy was making his rounds for her nightly kisses I was in the midst of saying “goodnight” and puckering my lips right when she coughed in my mouth!!
So needless to say I woke up the next day sick. And Zoey followed the next morning.
I hate the illness’ where they start out not so bad and get worse over the course of like 3 days. Yeah that’s exactly how this one is.
Saturday I was kickin’ back thinking man I got this.
Sunday I’m on my death bed, questioning my sanity for even trying to kiss a sick child.
Luckily their dad is a true super hero and managed to take care of all of us and still get things done around the house.
Can we talk about how this sickness dropped me on my butt but my kids are still laughing and giggling their days away? They go on as usual just with more snot and puffy eyes mixed in.
Except for Monday! Monday was the worst for Zoey and Audrey. The coughs were worse, the constant dripping snot, tears for no reason, the need for cuddles at the most inconvenient times.
As difficult as it is to have one sick child, having two will make you keep the anti-bacterial glued to your hand for a good few months.
Sick days aren’t what they once were…a good excuse to stay in bed and watch a good movie, now they are filled with usual routines while I cough out a lung. Being sick while my two kids are sick as well is just a circus act on a tight rope hoping I don’t fall off.
